College can be quite expensive, and navigating the decision of where a student should attend can be complex.
According to the Pew Research Center, only 62% of students who start a degree or certificate program finish within six years (2022). Additionally, Forbes Magazine reported that in 2022, 59% of prospective college students applied to five or more colleges.
The cost of college can be substantial, often amounting to thousands of dollars. It is crucial to be well-prepared to ensure your child can choose the right career path, select the best college for them, and manage costs effectively.
Dr. T.J. Jumper has spent his entire career in secondary education. During his time at Heartland AEA, he co-led the Future Ready/College Career Ready initiative and served as the agency lead for transition and Career Technical Education.
He oversaw graduation outcome data for high schools in Central Iowa and closely monitored the percentages of high schoolers who enrolled in, attended, and completed post-secondary education. His role included assisting in the approval of high school plans related to Individual Career and Academic Planning processes.
Dr. Jumper also has personal experience with college and career planning, having guided his three daughters through college, collectively earning over $150,000 in scholarships.
